Caustics Commercial License.

Every Caustics component is sold under the Caustics Commercial License — a proprietary, source-included license from Jovian Creative AS. The software is licensed, not sold: you receive the rights below, and copyright stays with us. This page is a plain summary. The canonical license text ships in the LICENSE.md file inside every product and is the binding version.

Choose a tier

One of three tiers applies to each purchase, based on how many people will use it.

Personal
A single named individual
  • Use the software in personal projects.
  • Use it in commercial work delivered to a single client.
  • Modify the source for your own use.
Team
Up to five named developers in one organisation
  • Unlimited number of projects.
  • Shared across the licensed team.
  • Source stays inside the licensed organisation.
Enterprise
Unlimited developers within one organisation
  • Unlimited projects and developers.
  • For organisation-wide deployment.
  • Source stays inside the licensed organisation.

In all tiers, source code may not be redistributed outside your licensed organisation.

What all tiers allow

Under any tier, you may:

  • Modify the source code for your own use.
  • Include the compiled output in production applications.
  • Pair the component with any other software in your stack.

What no tier allows

Under any tier, you may not:

  • Republish, resell, or share the source with parties outside your licensed organisation.
  • Use the source or compiled output to build a directly competing component library.
  • Train machine-learning models on the source code.

Updates

Lifetime updates within the major version you licensed are included. Future major versions may require an upgrade purchase, offered at a discounted rate for existing license holders.

Third-party credits

Where a component implements published academic work or matches a widely-used reference implementation, we credit the authors publicly in the documentation. These are honest attributions of mathematics and approach — no third-party code is redistributed, and they are not license claims about our code. For example, the fluid simulation credits Pavel Dobryakov's WebGL-Fluid-Simulation (MIT), Mark Harris and Jos Stam for the underlying GPU fluid math, and Björn Ottosson for OKLab/OKLCH colour science. Specific credits live in each component's documentation.

The canonical text

This page summarises the license for readability. The authoritative, binding text is the LICENSE.md file delivered with every product. Below is the operative grant, quoted verbatim:

"This software is licensed, not sold. By purchasing a license you receive the rights described below."

"Lifetime updates within the major version you licensed are included. Future major versions may require an upgrade purchase at a discounted rate for existing licence holders."

"No code from those authors is redistributed; only the mathematical results, which are not subject to copyright. We credit them publicly because their work is what makes this component possible."
