Meridian Atlas
An interactive cartography platform that turns dense geospatial data into something you want to explore — fluid, generative, and legible at every zoom.
3.1× Session length
−68% Tile load
22 Zoom levels
The challenge
Meridian had beautiful data and an unusable map. Tile loading was janky, the legend was unreadable on dark terrain, and nothing about it invited exploration.
The approach
I rebuilt the rendering layer on a shader-driven tile system with progressive detail, and designed a motion language for transitions so panning and zooming felt continuous rather than stepped.
The outcome
Session length tripled and the platform became Meridian’s flagship demo. The generative terrain shader shipped as a reusable internal package.
