Volta Onboarding Flow
A first-run experience for an energy app that made a tedious setup feel like a guided tour — animated, forgiving, and finished in under two minutes.

The challenge
Half of Volta’s new users dropped during a 14-step hardware setup. The flow was correct but cold, and a single mistake meant starting over.
The approach
I redesigned the flow as a forgiving, resumable sequence with motion that signposted progress, inline recovery from errors, and a calm visual rhythm tuned with the design team.
The outcome
Setup completion rose sharply and support tickets about onboarding nearly disappeared. The motion patterns became Volta’s shared interaction library.
