The context
A national collection of twelve thousand printed works sat on a slow, unsearchable site that did the material no justice. Scholars couldn’t cite it, designers couldn’t browse it, and the public never found it.
Our approach
We designed an editorial archive where typography leads and the work breathes. A fast faceted search, deep-link-able specimen pages, and a reading mode for the essays. Static-rendered for speed, image pipeline tuned for archival scans.
The outcome
The archive became a teaching resource overnight, cited in design courses across the Nordics, with average session depth more than tripling against the old site.
“They made a hundred years of work feel current without flattening any of it.”
